Phytosterols (also known as plant sterols) are naturally occurring plant substances. A daily intake of 2g of phytosterols has been shown to lower/reduce blood cholesterol which is a risk factor in the development of coronary heart disease.
Phytosterols (plant sterols) occur naturally in plant materials such as nuts, grains, seeds, leaves and vegetable oils.
Phytosterols can now be found in "special" margarines, spreads and yoghurts etc.
Consuming phytosterols in sufficient quantities has the potential to:
Reduce total cholesterol & reduce LDL cholesterol - without affecting HDL cholesterol or triglycerides
Phytosterols appear to act by decreasing the absorption of cholesterol in the intestine.
Studies have also shown that phytosterols appear to enhance the effects of statins on lowering cholesterol.

Each capsule provides on average 400mg phytosterols. 5 capsules provide on average 2g phytosterols.
Take between two to five capsules a day at meal times e.g. two capsules at breakfast, one at lunch and two at dinner.
Do not exceed the recommended maximum daily intake of 5 capsules. Maximum daily intake from all dietary sources should not exceed 3g (3000mg).
Do not take whilst pregnant or breastfeeding.
