Sores- Causes and Treatment Options

A sore is a bleb, lesion or bump that causes itching, inflammation, redness and pain. It might appear anywhere on your body and is often filled with serous fluid. The sore may be quite hard to the touch; however it softens and starts bleeding after a few days of its occurrence. Many sores take a much longer time to heal.

There are numerous factors that may lead to the formation of sores. They include viral infections, allergic reactions, eczema, insect bites, extended bed rest, leukaemia, diabetes, and skin cancer. The herpes simplex virus causes sores on the genitals, fingers and mouth.

There are several treatments that can be used to reduce the symptoms of sores. They include topical treatments such as ointments or creams applied directly on the sores, over the counter medications in the form of pills and application of skin protectants or a sunscreen-containing lip balm. It is important to remember that the treatment will vary with the underlying cause.

There are numerous brands on the market that help relieve the symptoms associated with sores. Nelsons Calendula Cream is a popular brand that is used to treat sore and rough skin. It is prepared from the Calendula plant, also known as “Marigold”. Calendula exhibits anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties and is well known for its healing properties. It is a soothing multi-purpose skin cream that helps treat rough skin and blebs. Apply the Nelsons Calendula Cream to the affected area and rub in lightly. If you are pregnant always consult a doctor before using this product.

Misconceptions about Ulcer

There are some common misconceptions about diseases that affect the gastrointestinal tract. The most common myth about ulcer is that it is mainly caused by the consumption of spicy foods. It is also believed that stress and depression play an important role in the development of this disease. However, a recent research has proved that this is not the case.

The majority of stomach ulcers are caused either by use of pain medications and anti-inflammatory drugs or by infection with a unique bacterium known as Helicobacter Pylori. Most medication-induced ulcers can be treated with antacids, stomach-protective medications and avoidance of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. Most bacteria-related cases can be cured with a combination of antibiotics and dietary habits changes. Although spicy foods, fast foods and depression may aggravate ulcer symptoms in many people, yet they do not cause ulcer.

Certain dietary supplements on the market can help to maintain the health of gastrointestinal tract especially stomach. FSC One a Day Garlic Gems are capsules containing an odourless garlic extract that helps maintain the health of digestive as well as cardiovascular system. They are small, easy to swallow capsules that promote a healthy stomach. You should take one capsule per day, preferably with a meal or just before bedtime. Another good thing about FSC is that it does not make use of artificial preservatives, flavours and colours. Moreover, it is gluten free, yeast free, sugar free, wheat free, corn free, and dairy free. However, it is important to remember that garlic may interact with some forms of medication particularly anticoagulant drugs.

Symptoms and Treatment of an Upset Stomach

Stomach makes a very important organ of your body as it helps digest food and absorb nutrients. However, an upset stomach requires a doctor’s diagnosis to find the underlying possible cause. The symptoms of an upset stomach usually include a taste of bile in the mouth, stomach pain, occasional heartburn, nausea and indigestion. In severe cases, one might experience constipation, irregular bowel movements, tar-like stools, vomit containing blood, fatigue, paleness and sharp pains in abdomen.

The possible causes of an upset stomach include Crohn’s disease, irritable bowel syndrome, ulcer, ulcerative colitis, reflux oesophagitis, acidity, indigestion and obesity.

As far as the treatment is concerned, ulcers and reflux oesophagitis can be treated with antibiotics and medicines for excess stomach acid.
